Giving From Your Donor-Advised Fund: The Details
Is this gift right for you?
A gift of the remainder from your donor-advised fund is for you if...
- You have established a donor-advised fund.
- You prefer to make a gift to us through your estate plan.
- You want to use assets that you have already designated for charity during your lifetime.
- You want to maximize what goes to heirs from your remaining estate.
Over the last several years, donor-advised funds at Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable and other charities have exploded in popularity. If you have made charitable gifts to a donor-advised fund, you have already designated those assets for charity. You now have the option to allow those resources to go to the sponsoring charity of the donor-advised fund when your fund terminates, or designate the Institute for Justice to receive the balance left in the account when you no longer will be making gifts from the fund.
You can designate your gift to the Institute for Justice for a purpose you feel is important, creating a meaningful legacy. Best of all, because these assets were already designated for charity, your gift won't take anything away from your heirs.
